I think FC Basel and Switzerland midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri could be one of the best players in the world in a few seasons. His great technical ability makes it look so effortless when he gets the ball onto his left foot.

The youngster started his career in the season of 2009-10 when he played 36 times for Basel and scoring 4 goals. In this season FC Basel won the Swiss Cup in which Shaqiri scored in the final as they beat FC Lausanne-Sport 6-0. As his second season began at FC Basel he got a call up for the Switzerland national team where he score his debut  goal against England. His goal was a brilliant strike to beat the out stretched arm of Joe Hart. Which England went on to win 3-1. Then in his second season he played another 36 games with 6 goals and 2 assists. As he started to become a regular in Switzerland's national squad he scored a hat-trick against Bulgaria to give them a 3-1 win. In this current season he has played 16 games and scored 4 with 1 assist.

I first noticed Xherdan Shaqiri in the 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championships when Switzerland came top of their group with 3 wins out of 3 and did not conceded a goal until the final when they lost 2-0 to Spain. His talent was clear when they played Denmark and he scored for them to go on to win 1-0 through a Shaqiri goal. His left foot is his best trait a bit like Messi in that way. He is a very pacey player and can pick a short pass. He is a Barcelona player because he is quick and can pick out intelligent passes to players. He has great awareness on the pitch and can score exquisite goals, but he isn't good enough for Barcelona yet.

He is a great talent and is technically brilliant he would fit into the English leagues because of his pace and his technical ability and would get into most teams in the world. If he does move into the English Premier League he will soon be off on his way to Barcelona but the next team to get their hands on him will be extremely lucky because he is a great talent.

Also the Switzerland team are very lucky to have him in his team and when he finally gets to his peak him and Frei will be able to tear a team apart because they are both brilliant players and will do well in their careers if they avoid big injuries.
