Kenny Dalglish last game as Liverpool manager was against Swansea City in a 1-0 loss. The team that day was:

Johnson Agger Carragher Kelly

Maxi Henderson Shelvey Downing

Suarez Carroll

This team is not exactly a young team, the young players are Kelly, Shelvey and Henderson.

Since Brendan Rodgers came into he has always tried to develop the youth side of Liverpool. Players such as Suso, Sterling, Wisdom, Shelvey and Henderson have all been given 1st team football. In a way it was the only thing that he could have done to improve Liverpool, with the limited money he has, so he has tried to find the good at Liverpool, and that was our youth players.

The best teams combine youth and experience and that is what Brendan Rodgers is trying to do at Liverpool. Player players such as Carragher when Wisdom plays, or Gerrard when Shelvey/Henderson play, so that they can use their experience to help the youngesters grow into amazing players. Liverpool are known for brining up quality players from their academy, such as Danny Murphy, Michael Owen, Robbie Fowler and Steve McMannaman.

The signings that Brendan Rodgers has brought in, in January, have been very clever as well, Philippe Coutinho, the 20 year old Brazilian, he has a lot of potential and is technically a great player. Daniel Sturridge is the same, he is a goal scorer, something that Liverpool have lacked since the departure of Fernando Torres. Sturridge also fits into the tika taka way of football that Liverpool are known for.

I am not saying that Liverpool are going to storm to the top of the league next season, but with the youth and quality they have I believe that Liverpool can be fighting for Champions League within the next 3 seasons. They just need to add experience to the club and then you have the perfect cocktail for a champion winning team.

Thank you for reading.
