Newcastle 6-2 Norwich: Georginio Wijnaldum four goals helps Steve McClaren to his first Premier League victory since 2006.

Newcastle now jump over their fierce rivals and their opponents next weekend Sunderland into 18th position.

Alex Neil tasted defeat for only the second time away from home after taking charge of Norwich City back in January.

Norwich showed glimpses of Premier League quality, but after bombarding the Newcastle defence they couldn’t get the points they were after.

Wijnaldum put the Magpies ahead after Moussa Sissoko’s first assist gave the Dutch man the opportunity to make it 1-0.

Dieumerci Mbokani then got an equaliser for Norwich City after Martin Olssons cross found Mbokani between two defenders.

Wijnaldum then put them back on top after Sissoko cross found Wijnaldum who headed it under the hapless John Ruddy.

Ayoze Perez adding to the score line with a counter attacking goal after Sissoko ran from deep and lay it off to the striker.

Nathan Redmond pulled one back when he was unmarked at the back post and had time to volley it into the corner.

After the break Norwich were the better side but after a counter-attack which saw Sissoko run away with the ball he set up Aleksandar Mitrovic for Sissoko’s fourth assist of the game.

Wijnaldum completed his hat-trick after an attack down the right when Janmaat whipped the ball in for attacking midfielder to head home for the match ball.

A fourth goal for Wijnaldum completed the game and the victory to Newcastle.
